How to use this tool

  1. 1Enter the bill's total cost and total kWh.
  2. 2If your bill breaks out demand and energy charges, enter those too.
  3. 3Click Calculate.
  4. 4Copy results or export CSV.

What the results mean

If demand share is large (often >20–30%), peak kW is likely driving cost.

If blended $/kWh is high, rate plan or TOU exposure may be worth investigating.

If "other" is unexpectedly big, inspect riders, fees, and taxes.

Common pitfalls

  • Using an estimated bill or partial-month bill
  • Mixing billing periods across different meters/accounts
  • Leaving out demand charges when they're a major driver
  • Confusing kW (demand) with kWh (energy)
